Jan Walsh is a writer and web entrepreneur.

"Success is Plan A. There is no Plan B." is Jan Walsh's maxim. And as both a writer and Internet entrepreneur, Walsh’s career is a success story. As a freelance writer and columnist, Jan's wine, food, profiles, and travel articles are published in magazines, books and on the web.

Envisioning the Internet as a platform to syndicate her local wine and food columns, Jan founded BirminghamWine.com in 2006 and BirminghamRestaurants.com in 2007. Upon the success of these websites, Jan grew her digital publishing company, Jan Walsh, LLC, in 2008 to include BirminghamBrides.com.

In 2009 Walsh and her business, Walsh Media, LLC founded BirminghamDoctors.com. As founder and developer, Jan was named Birmingham Business Journal's Health Care Heroes - Health Care Innovator 2009. The awards honor the best and brightest in Birmingham’s dynamic medical field. These awards were created several years ago to honor the talented individuals, companies and organizations who are helping Birmingham’s health care industry become one of the nation’s leaders.

The success of Walsh's local internet websites, across several verticals and through several years, brought with it local website design requests from many local businesses from medical practices, grocery stores, antique stores, and more. Thus a boutique website design and development business Walsh Websites, LLC was formed to continue to grow Walsh's own websites but also to design and consult for a select group of businesses that want a long-term relationship.

In 2010 DineDaily.com launched as a partner site to BirminghamRestaurants.com. In Summer 2011, the restaurants site expansion to other markets began with the launch of MontgomeryRestaurants.com. In 2013 Jan plans to launch GulfCoastRestaurants.com and PensacolaRestaurants.com!

Walsh's newest company, LocalLawyers.com, LLC has launched BirminghamLawyers.com, HuntsvilleLawyers.com, MobileLawyers.com and MontgomeryLawyers.co. The Alabama State Bar has partnered with LocalLawyers.com to offer internet marketing, reputation management and lawyer referrals on these city sites and on AlabamaLawyers.org. Local Lawyers has Local Association Partnerships with the Birmingham Bar Association, Huntsville-Madison County Bar Association and Montgomery County Bar Association, with other partnerships in the development phase. The Grand Launch of these websites began with statewide website, AlabamaLawyers.org in November 2011. The local legal city websites followed in 2011 and 2012.

Perhaps this business brings Jan's career full circle. She began as an English educator and now uses communications to synthesize the real world needs of a whole new world—the Internet—to businesses.

And Jan still makes time to write her monthly columns for B-Metro magazine and articles for Wine Spectator and other national publications.
